The Sydney, Cape Breton, Rotary Club sponsored local musical productions from 1955 until 1984.
In 1967 “Carousel” was presented at the Vogue Theatre. For some of these amateur productions professionals were brought in to fill one or two of the lead roles. This year the lead female role, Julie Jordan, was played by Pittsburgh native, Natalie di Silvio, who had appeared on Broadway and spent four years as a featured dancer for the Pittsburgh Opera. Because of illness, she could not complete the run and Glace Bay native, June Cyr, her understudy, stepped in.
Do you have Rotary Show memorabilia sitting in your basement or attic that you are not sure what to do with? Stephen MacDonald would like to hear from you.
