The Cape Breton Highlanders professional basketball team announced the upcoming return of Bruce Massey (#1).

Last season with the Highlanders, Massey was an NBLC Second Team All Star.

Massey, a 6’3” guard from Germantown, MD appeared in 32 of 40 games, averaging 36 minutes per game as a starter. He averaged 22 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals per game.  And, shot 51% from field goal range and 37% from the 3.  In his top-scoring games, he hit for 45, 44, and 37 points.

Tyrone Levingston, President & GM, said, “Last season, Bruce was one of the top players in the league.  His well-rounded individual and team play kept us competitive.  We are pleased that Bruce will continue to develop his professional career in Cape Breton and we expect that he will have another great year for our team.”

The 28-year-old Massey previously played in the NBA G League and at Middle Tennessee State University.  Most recently, during the NBLC off-season, he played in Mexico with the Caballeros de Culiacán where he was awarded 2nd Team All Import, averaging 17.5 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and a league-leading 2.3 steals per game.

Season 3 for the Highlanders starts in November and Season Tickets will go on sale soon.

Signed players compete for a final spot on the team roster during the Highlanders training camp in October. NBL teams are allowed to have a roster of up to 12 active players and up to 3 inactive players. Players may be deemed inactive if they are injured, held in reserve, or needed for roster adjustments. This provides teams with the flexibility to adjust their rosters for planned or unforeseen events.
