This is a great idea and I hope it is a big success. I will be working and unable to attend, however I have lots of topics I would love to see discussed. 1) The Container Terminal fairytale: It looks like details regarding this will be dug up with the current lawsuit launched, however should we be spending any more of our tax dollars on this or getting behind the medford non tax dollar effort to develop this? 2) Archibald's Wharf and the CBRM planning Strategy. Are we drifting away from the over all plan? 3) The Yarmouth ferry offers little to Nova Scotia's masterpiece. How can we change that? 4) Should Mayor and or Council be allowed to sit on boards like Sydney Ports Corporation and over at Louisbourg? 5) It is 2016, should we be mining coal and should we trust the guy going to do it? 6) The railway is gone. Should we get the right of way back and protect it? 7)Should our local university become a leader in green technology by offering courses in fields related to the next big boom for Canada? 8) If our taxes do not drop, will we be able to attract any new residents, business or even maintain what we have? 9) Can we afford a new library right now or should we use an existing building like the old court house in Wentworth park? 10) Membertou is a very successful organization. How can we work with this organization more to develop the CBRM? 11)With the price of trucking in vegetables, empty Saputo warehouse and trucking centre, our location (gateway to NFLD),abandoned farms and new green technology out there, Can Cape Breton supply the Atlantic Provinces with fresh food ?Should Cape Breton Island look at becoming one municipal unit (The city of Cape Breton) ? it would help to work together in regards to planning strategies, save overhead cost, make it a bigger unit demanding more share of money from transfer payments and most of all help stop influence from local old boys club's across the island. It is time to work together and look at the bigger picture.
