Seven days, eleven shows, and one hundred and sixty five delightfully unnerved audience members later, the Highland Arts Theatre enters the second week of LITTLE ONE!
This show is the first of it’s kind from the HAT. A truly unique experience placing small intimate audiences in a haunted house in Whitney Pier as they watch the off-kilter tale of Aaron (Tayves Fiddis) and Claire (Bhreagh MacNeil).
In fact, word of mouth has spread so quickly that this second week features another twelve shows, nearly all sold out. Luckily, the production has been extended for eight additional performances November 11th to the 15th.
With the safety of it’s attendees in mind, each audience is limited to no more than fifteen people. However, in true HAT signature style, they’ve turned stipulation to innovation. “It’s rare you get the chance to witness theatre in such a private way. The barriers are knocked down, and suddenly, it’s like the characters are confiding their darkest secrets in you,” says Wesley J. Colford, HAT Artistic & Executive Director.
Colford continues, “Behind each door, new details are revealed. In each room, a new chapter unfolds. And for those who pay close enough attention, they might get an advanced glance at where the story is destined to take them and their fellow audience members. From the front door, to the abandoned attic, every step brings you deeper into the world of Little One.”
The show features Tayves Fiddis, who some may remember from HAT shows such as Kitchen Party and Mary’s Wedding, and Cape Breton’s own Bhreagh MacNeil. MacNeil is no stranger to the HAT or the acting community of Cape Breton. Her breakout role in Ashley MacKenzie’s film Werewolf, represented Cape Breton across the continent landing a spot at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival and other notable Canadian film curations.
Written by Hannah Moscovitch and directed by the HAT’s 2020 artist in residence Alison Crosby. Recommended for ages 16 and up, this intense theatrical experience is not for the light of heart, but holds a rich, deeply emotional story about complicated people.
Despite having just extended the run, some of the new dates have already sold out. Be sure to book your tickets before you miss your chance to see this unique theatrical thriller.
Admission is $22 plus HST and can be purchase at www.highlandartstheatre.com or by calling the HAT’s box office at (902) 565-3637, Monday to Friday, noon to 6:00pm.
