Cape Breton is in need of more access to mental health services. Our current wait time for non-urgent care is at 245 days, according to the Nova Scotia Wait Times website for Mental Health & Addictions (Adult Services) in the Cape Breton Industrial Area.
Even our counselling private practitioners are starting to have wait lists, but how many of us can afford $100-200/hr for those services? I am proposing a low-cost counselling clinic to reduce barriers and increase access to mental health supports and resources through an innovative community of practice in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
