A Cape Breton community group that was on the verge of disbanding due to a lack of volunteers has been re-energized.
David Greenwell, chair of the Mabou and District Community Development Association, put out a call for help this week, and 40 people turned out to the annual general meeting Wednesday evening.

If the association had folded, several subcommittees that run the local beach, trails and coastal planning groups, plus the playground and library, would have lost their administrative support and charitable status.
There are now seven new members on the board representing a cross-section of the community.
People also offered their expertise in community outreach, event planning and pursuing sustainable funding, Greenwell said.
