Another great shot from NASA’s Aqua satellite yesterday afternoon on a great spring day. It makes for a nice comparison with the last two, to watch how the snow and ice are leaving. The mainland is nearly all brown now with some snow pack left in the Cobequid and Antigonish highlands. The main snow line is over in southern New Brunswick and western PEI.
The second image is a close-up of the Island from the same shot. Still snow in the Highlands snow-belt as well as the Creignish Hills, Mabou Highlands, and Marble Mountain. Not much ice left in the main part of the Bras d’Or; but still in Patrick’s channel and Whycocomagh Bay. Some of the lowland lakes are starting to lose their ice cover, but Lake Ainslie still maintains it’s cover. Still some pack ice along the western shore to keep temperatures cool.
