Official Trailer for ONLY 78 - The Battle to Save Gabarus

Only 78 is a story of how a small community with an indomitable spirit has united to tell its story & lay claim to a sustainable future.

Gabarus is a small fishing village of 78 year-round residents on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. For nearly 70 years, it was for the most part well-protected from the frequently violent storms of the North Atlantic by a seawall originally built by the Canadian government.

The Canadian government has refused to acknowledge ongoing responsibility for the seawall. The sad reality is that the story of Gabarus is one shared in many different ways by scores of coastal communities in Canada and around the world. Considered against the backdrop of dramatic climate and demographic shifts during an era of reduced public spending, many, if not all such communities face similar challenges to assure their survival.

Help us document this ongoing story and join us to celebrate the determination of a small village to succeed, despite the odds, in helping to shape its own destiny. As many in Gabarus have said... “we are all in this together. It is our village today, but it may be your community tomorrow”.

Very well made trailer. Good production value and good editing. I'd say this is a project worth supporting. I don't know the producer/director but I'm heading to the indiegogo page to see if I can find out.

Hey, the vimeo video on the indiegogo page is requiring a password... it must be the same video, but still, better fix it! Also, there isn't any way to comment before contributing, but I would like to comment that I would like more information about the filmmakers before contributing. I am an indiegogo member and a vimeo member, but couldn't get through.

Hi. We didn't set up the Indiegogo page, so don't control access to the video. Odd though, if one is trying to raise money. Perhaps contact the producer directly?

OH so sorry, I hadn't noticed that goCB had made this post, I just assumed it was them. Too bad eh? I would think they just lost my contribution... I did follow their campaign in case they open it up a bit. I can't even tell them. Maybe goCB should contribute one dollar to open the comments and tell them about this feedback!
