Pregame Analysis: Highlanders vs Storm in PEI (Mar 18, 2018)

The Cape Breton Highlanders professional basketball team are set to play their fourth game in five days in a gruelling road trip that takes them to Charlottetown to take on the PE Island Storm.

The Highlanders have been playing with a shortened bench, with Shane Osayande and Rashad Whack both missing the last several games.

This will be the seventh game of the season between them and the Highlanders have a record of 2-4 against the Storm. It will be the 14th matchup all-time, and the Highlanders have an overall record of 6-7.

The Storm are in 3rd place in the Atlantic Division, with a record of 17-16, and have clinched the third playoff spot, leaving only one spot still available between the Highlanders and the Saint John Riptide. The Island Storm have a record of 9-9 at home and last played on March 16 in Niagara versus the River Lions, winning 106 - 97. The Storm are the hottest team in the NBLC right now, having won seven games in a row.

This is the fifth of a six-game road trip as the Highlanders are not out of the race for playoffs yet. The Highlanders last played yesterday, March 17 in Moncton against the Magic, dropping a close game in the final minute.

The Storm are led by Franklin Session (#6), who scores 21 points, with a team-high 9 rebounds, and leads his team in assists with 5 a game. Du’Vaughn Maxwell (#13), averages 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Chris Johnson (#1) scores 17 points, with 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.
