Cape Breton boxing champion, Ryan Rozicki has announced his next fight. He'll be defending his NABA Canadian Cruiserweight Championship title against Russian-born Khetag Pliev.
Pliev is undefeated with a record of 5-0 in boxing with two wins by knock out. Pliev also has a 4-1 record in mixed martial arts and competed at the London 2012 Summer Olympics as a wrestler representing Canada in the 96 kg weight class.
Pliev will enter the ring with Rozicki having had only one significant boxing match versus Joshua Temple (7-0) in his last fight in October 2018. He'll have been 11 months without a fight when he faces Rozicki. However, Pliev's match with the "Bruiser" may turn out to be interesting. Given his wrestling and MMA background, what he lacks in boxing experience he may make up for with grit and a willingness to trade punches (sometimes wild) in the ring. And he will potentially be the fittest and most durable fighter Rozicki has faced to date.
The Three Lions Promotions fight will take place at the Hamilton Convention Centre on September 7th, 2019.
"I have nothing but respect for Pliev, but he’ll fall like the rest. I’m looking forward to the challenge and fighting in Hamilton again. It’s a lot like my hometown in Nova Scotia. In both places, you can tell they like a bit of grit in the ring. Feels like my home away from home.” - Ryan Rozicki
