Nova Scotia PC Leader Tim Houston
Nov 6, 2018
Newly minted Nova Scotia PC Leader Tim Houston discusses party plans for the near future.
Host: Wendy Bergfeldt
Houston did not reaffirm his pledge to double Equalization in this interview and skipped right past the question. Without that reaffirmation on a recurrent basis, there is no reason for residents of the CBRM to commit to removing the two remaining Liberal MLAs. The PCs will try to win the next election based solely on hitting the Liberals on the state of healthcare. The problem is, I don't think the average citizen, has any particular confidence in any party in fixing the system. Equalization, however, has a direct and immediate impact on the receiving municipalities and is vitally important for the CBRM. If Houston doesn't take every opportunity to reaffirm it, then it's on the pathway to being reneged on.
Joe, Tim Houston may have missed an opportunity to reaffirm the $15 million, but he will not "renege" on this or any other Commitment. If you have any concerns in that regard, suggest that you contact him through his constituency email.
