1.POST-STORM UPDATE
Like many of us, the Sydney Curling Club lost power due to Hurricane Matthew. As a result, our ice melted. Butch and members are rebuilding the ice and it will be ready for play as of Tuesday October 18th. Thank you to all who helped the Sydney Curling Club in the aftermath of the storm, while also dealing with damages at home.
The club will re-open Monday, October 17th at 4 pm.
2, PEPSI OPEN
The Pepsi Open Bonspiel will be held from Tuesday October 18th to Saturday October 22nd. If you’re not playing in the Pepsi Open, stop by and watch the action!
3.LEAGUE CURLING
League curling begins the week of Monday October 24th. Stop by during the Pepsi Open to sign up!
Monday Night: Sponsored by Nova Scotia Power
Sign up as an individual and you’ll be placed on a team. If you’d like to play on the same team as another member, add a note when you sign up and we’ll try to accommodate you (or at least put you on the same draw).
Tuesday Night: Sponsored by The Curling Store
Sign up as a team of four. If you’d like to play, but don’t have a team, then put your name and number near the sign up sheet, as there may be teams looking for a curler to complete the team.
Wednesday Night: Sponsored by Ziggy’s
You can either sign up as a pair (to play skip and mate on a team), or individually. You’ll be placed on a team.
Thursday Night: Sponsor Staples
Sign up as a team of two, or sign up as an individual and you’ll be placed on a team. Welcome to new sponsor Staples!
4. GOLDEN AGE CURLING
Golden Age curling takes place Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 1 pm, and is open to those 60 years and over. Golden Age Curling starts Wednesday, October 19th.
5.REMINDER: NEW ONE-NIGHT MEMBERSHIP
Please spread the word of the new, one-night adult membership option. This will appeal to those with very busy schedules!
6.REMINDER: WIN YOUR MEMBERSHIP
Each time a returning member successfully recruits a new curling member, the returning member’s name will be entered into a draw for a one-season membership for him/herself. Returning members: be sure to fill out your membership form with your name and the name of the new member(s) you recruited, so that you’ll be entered into the draw.
