THE LEGENDS RETURN TO SAVOY!

ORIGINAL LEGENDS SHOW RETURNS TO THE SAVOY

Popular series features the music of Patsy Cline, The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly

The crowds asked for it and so the Savoy Theatre and the directors of the wildly popular Legends series are excited to announce the Return of LEGENDS I - Featuring Patsy Cline, the Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly, and in February, we'll see the return of LEGENDS II - featuring the Mamas and the Papas, the Righteous Brothers and Roy Orbison.

Before commencing a sold-out performance of the Christmas Legends show this past December, Savoy Theatre Manager, Pam Leader and Legends Co-Director Stephen Muise made the announcement from the stage, sending hundreds of happy show-goers to the box office during intermission to get their tickets. “The first Legends show we ever did really had an effect on people. We could have sold out three more shows at the time, and people have not stopped mentioning it. Then we did the second one and the very same thing happened. So, we saw an opportunity to beat the winter blues by bringing back these shows in January and February, when people might need a little break from reality,” said Leader.

Legends will take place on January 26 at 7pm and January 27 at 2pm. Legends II will take place February 9 at 7pm and 10 at 2pm.

Show co-director Stephen Muise says luck was on their side when it came to scheduling the remounts. “Our Everly Brothers and our Righteous Brothers are all Cape Bretoners but three out of four of them live and work away; guys like Glace Bay native, Jimmie Inch, who resides in Lawrencetown, in Halifax. He’s adjusting his life for this show. That just goes to show you how excited the cast is to make it all happen again,” said Muise.

LEGENDS ONE CAST

The role of Patsy Cline will once again be played by well-known New Waterford girl, Jenn Sheppard. “You’d think Patsy Cline herself was right there in the room with us,” said Pam Leader. “People thought they walked into a time machine.”

To fill the roles of the oh-so popular Everly Brothers, the producers called on the talents of Ron Newcombe and Jimmie Inch. “The moment these two very talented guys step on stage…the lid comes off the place,” chuckles Muise.

To round out the Legends One performance, audiences are treated to Colin Appleton’s charming version of the ever quirky Buddy Holly. “Buddy Holly was such a unique artist, gone too soon. Colin brought him back to life for these shows,” said Leader.

As in other Legends performances, the show also features the role of an “accidental narrator”; a character who unknowingly navigates the audience through Legends via a storyline of their own. For Legends One, the narrator role will be again played by multi-talented actor/singer Heather Kerr. Added to the mix is the fantastic four-part harmony of Quattro, who emulate the musical stylings of The Jordanaires to perfection.

The entire performance is backed by some of the best musicians in the business, Fred Lavery, Aaron Lewis, James MacDonald and Em Dingwall, under the direction of Stephen Muise.
