Several local physicians wish to update the public on further loss of specialists and general practitioners from our area. In recent weeks we have learned that 6 more physicians in the areas of ophthalmology, radiology, psychiatry and family medicine will be leaving our island during the months of May and June. Deterioration in the number of eye specialists in particular will now precipitate a loss of coverage on weekends beginning in June, requiring eye injuries to travel to Halifax for definitive management during those times.

The following physicians will be available to discuss the ramifications of these departures with the press at 2:30 PM on Friday, May 26, 2017 in the Health Park lobby.
