Three home games have been played at Centre 200 and the Cape Breton Highlanders have started strong, ranking #2 in NBL Canada league attendance, averaging well over 2,000 fans per game. The London Lightning boast the highest attendance at 3,000 per game.

The Highlanders team itself has a challenging record with only 1 win and 5 losses, but the important story is that the team has been competitive in all of its games, with 4 of the 5 games coming down to the final minute of play.

This despite injuries having saddled the team in its early days. NBL veteran Morgan Lewis injured his leg in the early minutes of game 1, and has since been released from the team. Pro rookie Jerryn Skeete broke his hand in game 2, but is expected to return in the coming weeks. Leading scorer Booker Woodfox was too sick to play in game 6. And, center Chadrack Luffille has been nursing a bad knee since training camp.  Wyatt Anders returned to Manitoba to complete his education.

Four new players have recently been signed to help balance out the roster:
 

• Mike Luby, 6'11" 230lbs, 29 years old, Center from Brock, ON. Played in the NBL and at Brock University.
  
  
• Mike Rostampour, 6'8" 230lbs, 26 years old, Forward from West St. Paul, MN. Played in professional European leagues and at the University of Nebraska Omaha.
  
  
• Charles Mann, 6'6" 215lbs, 22 years old, Small Forward from Alpharetta GA. Rookie professional who played at the University of Georgia.
  
  
• Tyrel Edwards, 6'6" 210lbs, 25 years old, Small Forward from Hamilton, ON. Played at Canisius University.

They will join NBL assist leader Hank Thorns, #3 in blocked shots Austin Witter, and the rest of the squad. View the full team roster

The energy at Centre 200 has been electric, providing a great atmosphere for players and fans.
