CBRM Boardwalk: Toast

Just read the article in the Post today{click on link at the bottom of my rant} and take a good hard look at the pic{isn't that Disneyland???} included. It provides quite a bit of detail on yesterday's sad sad Library/Waterfront special/secret Council meeting.Just sit back and try to ponder whether or not you think that spectacular development is gonna happen.Doucet and associates wanted the land and they got it with the presentation of the deed a few months ago...without a hole in the ground, completed blueprints or a site plan.Looks like we are heading into our 5th year of construction delays and may I suggest we are waiting for "nothing" with the bottom line having access to our Boardwalk blocked with no walkers,no pub,no treats,no parking,no socializing,no entertainment...need I say more. Our administration had many other choices for the location of our library and as far as the bucks to build it...well..that becomes a problem when you treat our tax dollars like monopoly money.Furthermore who in the heck at other levels of government in Halifax and Ottawa are gonna throw some gravy money our way with wasteful spending and 2 Police investigations underway and it would appear there may be potentially another one on the way unless someone appropriately answers this question:Who authorized the deed transfer to Doucet in Dec./25 under the Municipal Government Act which states Council has to approve municipal land sales? Prior to that the deed was held back pending a construction start. If Council did not approve the deed transfer then this transaction must be sent to the cops as was done with the Port land deal. Our senior administrators and elected officials are a disgrace. They fall for and promote anything that includes flashy numbers, pics, overheads and yes of course smooth talking special interest groups and spinsters. In this situation Doucet kept getting extensions by coming back each time over 4 to 5 years with something bigger and grandeur.Good laurd this time they even threw in some town houses along the water...what nonsense!!! I don't know how they live with themselves with the results they are delivering for us.Council is not even performing WATCHDOG functions which should be a priority. They are more like ENABLERS for the 4th floor schemers.But...ya know what...27 months will pass before you know it and they can be tossed to the curb where they belong. We gotta get some folks in there with a spine and guts that do their homework/research and brainstorm amongst themselves before they hit that vote button. Is it true - Doucet grabbed the property for 1 dollar ?

I have no idea and I'm not sure if Council knows.I just know that Clarke acknowledged to the Post reporter that Doucet is now the owner{deed transferred in Dec./25} and any deals kiosks/businesses want to make even on a temporary basis have to be negotiated with Doucet. That's how one driveway got opened by Doucet for the summer and according to the names of the owners of the taco shop one of them appears to be related to Doucet. When Council agreed to the location of the library in the Doucet building in Jan./26{a month after the deed was transferred} I'm not even sure if they were told the deed was transferred already and who authorized it.According to the Municipal Government Act Council has to approve municipal land sales.Unless Council is hiding their own negligence they should send this sale to the cops like the other one.

I guess the Wharf sale is now history - hard to believe they get away with this crap - a piece of land worth a fortune — gone to outside interest 🤮

Not altogether outside.A Doucet exec is related to the Westmount Rudderhams according to the rumour mill.

No one is saying if Council approved the deed transfer in Dec./25.If not it gotta go to the cops just like the Port land sale.
