CBRM Library: Not getting what it deserves

Just click on the CBC link at the bottom and look at what a potential GEM {now getting worldwide attention} we have squandered. From what I see advertised on this site and also what I see in the CBC article noted, our library offers a very wide range of activities other than just reading complimented by an excellent staff.A new library has been on the table for 15 years with promise after promise of a new one.So what does our Council do you ask???...vote unanimously to house it in the long delayed {4 to 5 years already} Doucet Disneyland type apartment building.Currently all libraries in Nova Scotia are housed in stand alone government premises with guaranteed proper maintenance inside and out since libraries now have become an important social component of many communities. Also there are no other tenants rolling in and out of the building who our library staff will have no control over. However our location will be trusted to a company that can't even make a firm commitment on a construction date and now own {with a deed} our Boardwalk area from the Fiddle to the hotel including two key access roads. What a blunder !!! How much 💰did the CBRM get for that prime piece of Waterfront property ?

As far as I know no $ changed hands, just an understanding and deal on housing our library in there.Up until now the deed was held back pending a construction start bur so far at least publiccaly it appears council approved the transfer of the deed to Doucet despite 4 to 5 years in delays and appears no building in the forseeable future. In a nutshell...citizens got raked.

There's no way that Doucet and his PRIVATE company should have control of our PUBLIC library. Isn't that one of the reasons that Chernin's contract wasn't renewed? Because it was decided that he shouldn't build our public library? I could be wrong there but that's what I understood. Besides that, there is no way Doucet's company should build a library when they can't even guarantee a decent number of parking spaces allocated for library patrons. What is that all about ??!! Whatever happened about upgrading the courthouse where Acoa and Veterans Affairs currently are? I'm sure we would have our library years earlier AND there is ample parking there.

Once again our council got conned by the flashy disney- like drawings and hoopla juiced up by desperate library supporters and staff who the mayor recruited for his sell job on behalf of his 2024 campaign donator Doucet {$6000} who is related to another Westmount family who also has someone within who contributed $10,000 to Cecil's failed 2020 campaign All of us out here are supposed to be too stupid to see what is going on here and meanwhile we lost our Boardwalk from the fiddle to the hotel and the 2 access driveways.Nice going council...you failed us again.
