Ok, so I normally stay out of politics when it comes to my writing. I don't like telling people who to vote for, and most of the people reading this probably know way more about local politics than I do, but I have to share something I did today.
I voted, and it was easier than checking out a book at the library.
That blows my mind. Let me give you a little breakdown of events this morning.
9:30am - Got to work. Was told early voting started today by telephone and online. Online? Where am I? The FUTURE!!??!!
10:30am - Called the voting office. I wasn't registered. I moved into my house in District 5 two months ago. Thought to myself "It's probably too late. Guess I'm not voting this year." They tell me to come down to the Civic Centre and register.
12:30pm - Go outside. It's a beautiful day. I jaunt down The Esplanade.
12:35pm - Get to the Civic Centre. Pick up my visitors badge. Go to the fourth floor. Nice lady asks me a few questions. I think her name was Angela. I fill out a form and write that my birthday is November 11th. It's not November 11th. What's wrong with me?
12:45pm - Got my registration papers and left the Civic Centre. Order a hot dog and onion rings at the Last Minute Food Truck. The two workers inside have delightful banter regarding onion rings. I think they're a couple. I hope they're a couple.
12:55pm - Back at the office. Discover I stole the Civic Centre's guest pass. NUTS! Sit down, eat onion rings, vote online.
1:00pm - Wonder to myself "Did that really happen? Did I just perform a civic duty while eating onion rings?" TASTE THE FREEDOM!
So that's how I registered, bought lunch, and voted online within the span of 30 minutes.
I wrote down the wrong birthday. I stole government property. Guys, I'm not good at this stuff, and even I got in and out of there in 30 minutes!

Don't worry guys. I'll bring it back. Also, I need to trim my beard.
So, everybody, I don't care who you vote for, but if you think it's not worth your trouble or your time, trust me, it's not some epic quest of civic responsibility. Angela's really nice, and the guard guy in the foyer was pretty cheery too.
VOTE IF YOU'RE INTO IT!
