Ryan Rozicki won his title fight Saturday night against American Shawn Miller. The victory came in the third round of the main event match-up at Centre 200 by way of knockout.
Rozicki landed a powerful body shot to end the fight. His record improves to 10-0, and he gains the WBC International Silver Title in the cruiserweight division. With the win, he'll also move up the world rankings.
After a tentative first round where Rozicki threw very few punches, he was ready to work in round II and pushed the fight. Although Miller kept an active jab and landed a few solid right hands that drew the attention of the home crowd, Rozicki was seemingly unphased and began unleashing heavy power punches to work towards an early knockout.
Miller likely lived up to his billing as Rozicki's toughest opponent yet. He demonstrated good defence and was able to hit Rozicki with both hands. At 37-years-old, beyond Rozicki's exceptional power, the big difference maker against Miller may have been Miller's inferior stamina, as well as fighting in a higher weight class than usual. His prior title bouts were at light heavyweight (175 lbs).
The live stream of the fight card on Facebook attracted more than 5,000 active viewers during the main event.
