Cape Breton Regional Municipality's police commission is looking to get its citizen members some money.
The board is asking the cash-strapped CBRM council to provide a stipend, much like other police commissions in Nova Scotia.
Tom Vickers, one of three citizen members of CBRM's commission, said he accepted the position as a volunteer and the lack of remuneration is not a problem now.
But it could make it difficult to recruit or retain commissioners in the future and paying members is one of the recommendations of the Mass Casualty Commission, he said.
