Nova Scotia is rolling out mobile live-fire units to bring hands-on training directly to local fire departments for the first time.
The provincial government spent more than $2.5 million this year on two custom trailers — called mobile burn units — and propane training props to simulate common emergencies like car and dumpster fires.
One unit is already in Sydney, with a second expected by late July. A third trailer, owned by the Cape Breton Regional Fire Service, will also join the training rotation.
