So true! Mary Ann Falls was available to everyone since the Park was created, and probably before that, because vehicles could drive up the road. Parks Canada has removed that access to everyone, allowing only a small portion of the population to access the Falls. People with mobility issues, people who are seniors, and even families with small children would find it near impossible to walk or bike the more than 13 km distance to the Falls. It's very sad because Mary Ann Falls was always a wonderful family place to go for picnics, swimming in the pool below the falls, and just enjoying the beauty of the whole surroundings. Now it's available only to a select few, and that's not what Parks Canada should be all about! Instead of adding ways for people to enjoy the Park, it is removing a site which has been always been accessible to all. Below is a letter I wrote about this issue back in 2024 https://www.saltwire.com/atlantic-canada/letter-changes-to-mary-ann-falls-make-accessibility-a-challenge-100983539
