Sydney waterfront marina closed for season despite construction delays [CBC]

Even for boats, finding parking can be tricky if you’re looking for a spot on the Sydney waterfront.

The marina along the Sydney boardwalk is closed for the duration of construction on a new residential complex.

The facility typically accommodates sailboats and yachts, providing floating docks and wharfs where boaters can tie up to visit downtown businesses and restaurants.

Alan Hann runs Hippy Hemp, a small boutique at the Joan Harriss Cruise Pavilion, alongside his wife. He says the lack of arriving mariners will affect local downtown businesses.

This is what happens when "STUPID" rules the day when it comes to CBRM leadership and they allow "out of towners" to take over our most prized properties.Boy oh boy we need an election before more destruction happens !!!

Greenfield to Barbusci under Police investigation and now this...fiddle to the hotel to DOUCET.Gone are:shops like fish and chips and ice cream, walkers, entertainers, parking, socializing, both access driveways and on and on !!! All 12 councilors voted for this.

"The marina along the Sydney boardwalk is closed for the duration of construction..." That's what the article states. So, if it takes 4 to 5 years for construction to be completed (it has already been delayed years), that seems to imply that the Sydney marina is more or less a thing of the past. Boaters will be finding other marinas for their boats and I highly doubt that they would ever come back to Sydney. Every good thing we had going for us seems to be given away to smooth talkers who make lots of promises but never seem to get anything done (possibly because they're waiting with their hands out for government money). So, no marina and no library possibly for many years in the future at this rate. And, if we do get our library, better save some money for taxi fare because there will be no parking spaces allotted for our future new library according to the people who are doing the new development !! If we keep going backwards like this, CBRM will be back in the Stone Age before too long !

Port land{Greenfield} sold to "out of towner" Barbusci, now in the hands of Police as deed transferred by Clarke without Council approval and may be illegal{contrary to Municipal Government Act},main Boardwalk from the fiddle to the hotel sold to Doucet leaving it almost useless for regular folks and that sale approved by all 12 councilors. CBRM is being dismantled before our very eyes.

I would never call anyone “stupid” just misinformed - let’s be kind - Councillors ( not all ) stepped up to the plate - let’s hope they rule the day ✌️

Council DID NOT step up to the plate. The vote was 12 to 0 to agree to turn the library and land{deed} over to Doucet.

I was thinking of the sale of the wharf - I apologize 🤦‍♂️

Allie,I hate the word stupid but I can come up with nothing else. From the fiddle to the hotel is now owned by "out of towner" Doucet by a vote of 12 to 0.We lost our ice cream, fish and chips, eventually the bar{only open temporarily cuz a Doucet relative is involved},walkers, entertainment and now the marina. One of CBRM's most precious assets is gone thanks to our mayor and council with not one voice against the deal.THIS SUCKS !!!

Ray , Doucet was raised on Bramar (?)Dr in Westmount - I delivered mail for 32 years to let’s say thousands of of families - This Doucet family Ill never forget - they are the best of the best - Highly respected by all I’m sure ✌️they have since moved from that area - So I’m sure you are not zeroing in on that family - I get your point though - many citizens of CBRM are not liking what is going on -✌️

The problem is not Doucet. They now own from the fiddle to the hotel and can do whatever they want to it/with it.The problem is with our elected officials who voted unamimously to sell our prized piece of land which I'm sure many citizens are disgusted with.We lost so so much with this deal.
