Seaside Communications Shortlisted For National Award [VOTE NOW]

Seaside Communications has been shortlisted for Tuned-In Canada: the CCSA Awards, a long-standing annual initiative which celebrates the contributions CCSA-Member independent communications companies make to their communities and for their customers.

Seaside Communications is up against three other nominees the category of Best people: on-camera community channel personality and Best story: giving back. The winners in each category are determined by nationwide voting, which opens Thursday, March 18, 2021 and closes April 1, 2021.  If they are the winner, the $1,000 prize for their category will be donated to the Glace Bay Food Bank, which is the local charity of their choice.

Best People: On- Camera Community Channel Personality” nominee Lynn Rosta’s secret ingredient when hosting Sweet Sensations on Seaside Communications Local TV really is love. For close to 10 seasons, Lynn has made it a point to showcase local fruit and vegetables in the recipes she uses, while also tailoring recipes to special occasions within the community. The show has such a following in the community that Lynn gets stopped everywhere she goes to talk about the show, her recipes, and anything else by community members who tune in each week. Lynn strives every week to bring people together with the sharing of sweet treats.

Since its inception almost 30 years ago, the Glace Bay Food Bank’s annual Jack Bonaparte Sharing is Caring Telethon is something Seaside Communications looks forward to producing and airing on Local TV each year. Being nominated for “Best Story: Giving Back” with this event demonstrates just how important this is to the community, and how much of an impact it has on those in the area. This is the biggest fundraiser for the only food bank in the Glace Bay area that serves many of those less fortunate. Besides raising funds and donations for the Food Bank, the telethon also brings local talent from many different artistic backgrounds together for a day of fun, laughter and good cheer.

“The Tuned-In Canada Awards really showcase the positivity that CCSA Members are providing to their communities,” said Dean Abbass, General Manager Cable Operations at Seaside Communications. “To be nominated in these two categories is both exciting and humbling. Being short-listed alongside other telecommunication companies from across the nation proves that homegrown initiatives and talents are worth pursuing and worth celebrating.”

Nationwide online voting opened Thursday, March 18th and takes place using SMS authentication. Voters can cast one vote per day for 15 days, or can deploy all 15 votes at once. Voting closes on April 1st.

“The CCSA has been running the awards since 2014, and has provided more than $50,000 to winning companies, who in turn have donated their winnings back to the communities where they live and work,” said Jay Thomson, CEO of CCSA. “We hope that everyone in Seaside’s serving areas will embrace the community spirit at the heart of this friendly competition and bring out the vote to support their local nominee, Seaside Communications.”

The winners will be announced on April 12th.
