A young lady with strong CB roots is heading to the Olympics…..

Lauren Gale is a young lady who has strong Cape Breton roots. Lauren’s parents (Joe Gale and Lisa Gale (Green) were both born and raised in Sydney. Lauren has an uncle (Lorne Green), an aunt (Carla Sandalis) and a grandfather, Joe Gale Sr., who all currently reside in Sydney. Lauren was born in New Brunswick as her dad (Joe Gale) was, and still is, in the military, where the family was stationed in Oromocto. Lauren and her sister Erin traveled around Canada and the USA as their dad was posted in various locations between the two countries. Currently they reside in Colorado, where Lauren attends Colorado State University. For a complete track Biography on Lauren, please visit: https://csurams.com/sports/track-and-field/roster/lauren-gale/5995 When the Gale’s lived in Ottawa, Lauren ran for the Ottawa Lions where she holds many records: https://www.ottawalions.com/2019/07/22/gale-breaks-canadian-record-at-pan-am-u20-championships/ Lauren comes from an athletic family, and it seems that running was a big part of her life from an early age. Her grandfather, the late Ivan Green of Sydney River (formally from the Pier), was a runner here in Cape Breton in his younger years and Ivan won countless medals for track and field. Ivan was her biggest fan and an immensely proud grandfather. Lauren’s parents (Lisa and Joe) were both athletic in their younger years and both participated on several teams here in Sydney in their youth. Joe, Lauren’s dad, was intensely involved in sports in his university years at CBU (named athlete of the year) and remained very athletic throughout his life. Lauren will be competing in the 4 X 400 Meter relay and representing Canada in the Tokyo Olympics as the youngest team member, at 21 years old. The relatives of Lauren Gale who still reside in Sydney are so immensely proud of Lauren and wish her the absolute best of luck in Tokyo.
