This is what can happen when your elected representative is freed from the party’s agenda. Your representative can represent the interest and concerns of the constituents. It is becoming more obvious to the electorate that the elected parties to government are answerable to others and not their constituents.
The people on Cape Breton are currently electing those who are unable to speak about our concerns because of political party corruption. So far, we have seen Alana Paon stand up to this corruption and she was removed from the party and is now able to speak freely as an independent MLA. We also have seen MLA Kendra Coombes ask the tough questions of the Minister of Municipal Affairs that he could not answer.
Is it not time to say goodbye to the politicians whose lips are sewed shut by their party who does not want to discuss the corruption surrounding equalization?
What independent MLA Alana Paon has demonstrated is that the efforts of the NSEF will become a part of the political culture and history of this province. What is really conspicuous with what MLA Paon and Coombes have done is the complete absence of comment from the incumbent MLA’s of the Liberal and Conservative parties (for now, the NDP party is allowing our MLA’s to speak freely) We thank Alana Paon and Kendra Coombes for getting the ball rolling on this serious issue facing Cape Breton and rural Nova Scotia.
