The weather system set to hit Cape Breton today is not going to be as strong as the destructive storm in 1974. Wind speeds will be high, but much lower than in 1974. This post is for historical information only.

Here is the latest update on the Hurricane Dorian system that will arrive today. Winds up to 120 km/hr, reducing to 90 to 100 km/hr by early morning Sunday (around 3 am).

Some good news about the storm is that it is not expected to drop as much rain, which will help reduce the potential for flooding.
