Bette MacDonald Returns to the C.B. Summertime Revue

BIG NEWS FOR SUMMERTIME REVUE FANS

BETTE IS BACK! AND THE REVUE CREW IS SET TO TRAVEL!

The secret is out! After wrapping up a highly successful 8-season stint as the quick-witted and hilarious Trudy Walsh on the hit CBC comedy show Mr. D, and a stellar tour of the music and comedy show, Island Girls, Bette MacDonald has announced her return to The Cape Breton Summertime Revue. But that’s not all! The show may be coming to a theatre near you! Good dear, good!

Bette MacDonald captured the hearts of show-goers - for nearly a decade - as a featured performer with the original Cape Breton Summertime Revue. Her ability to send an audience into raucous laughter with just the lift of an eyebrow or a snappy one-liner via her original and  memorable characters, quickly earned her the loyalty of large audiences everywhere. Since her first revue days, Bette has added a long list of credits to her name. She is a comedian, actor, writer and Gemini Award winner who has been performing on television, radio, and on stages across the country to sold-out houses and critical raves.  Bette also stars in and is co-writer, of, Tis The Season, a holiday themed show that has toured in Nova Scotia with great success.

Savoy Theatre Manager Pam Leader says it was a long-awaited announcement, “Ever since we brought the Revue back, people have been waiting for Bette to come back and for the show to tour. This year, the stars aligned for both and we are absolutely thrilled,” said Leader.

The 2019 Cape Breton Summertime Revue will be travelling to a few theatres this year to ensure a wide range of audiences get a belly laugh or two. The show will play at the Savoy Theatre on July 23, 24, 25, before travelling to the DeCoste Performing Arts Centre in Pictou on July 28, 29, The Rebecca Cohn in Halifax on July 30 and SAERC in Port Hawkesbury July 31. The Savoy Theatre will welcome back the show for more dates in August. Check out the Savoy Theatre website for details.

Audiences can expect to see MacDonald’s signature characters return to the Revue stage as well as a few new ones as she joins fellow performers Jenn Sheppard (who also toured with MacDonald during Island Girls), Jordan Musycsyn, Margaret MacPherson, Peter MacInnis and the MacArthur dancers. The Revue band features some of Cape Breton’s top musicians, including Allie Bennet, Brian Talbot, Rachel Davis and Darren McMullen (of Coig), who are under the direction of band leaders Stephen Muise and Fred Lavery. The show will once again be directed by Maynard Morrison, who may even be making a cameo appearance in this year’s show!! Grab your tickets to see the Cape Breton Summertime Revue 2019.
