BONNACH BREAD recipe from Tunes & Wooden Spoons

Written instructions below the video. Recipe is attached.

BONNACH

(Theresa MacDonnell)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

In a large bowl, combine:

3 cups all-purpose flower (sifted)

1 cup whole wheat flour

6 tsp. baking powder

3 tsp. white sugar

1 tsp. salt

Mix well and set aside

In a small bowl, combine:

1/2 cup vegetable or canola oil

2 cups mile

(Instead of oil, you can use 1/2 cup shortening OR butter OR lard)

Pour oil and milk mixture into the flour mixture and mix well together, like you would for tea biscuits.

Put dough on floured surface and have flour on the side to add as needed. Knead a little bit and turn over so the smooth side is up.

Sprinkle flour on greased cookie sheet or stoneware pan or 10" cast iron frying pan. Lay the dough in the pan and score the top of the dough.

Bake in oven for about 40 minutes. When finished, remove from pan and place on cooling rack.

Serve warm with lots of butter and pour some molasses on top, and have a good cup of tea.
