Victoria County Councillor Perla Macleod gets engagement ring back... 6 years later!

~ Jennifer Ripley, Victoria Standard

Six years after being robbed, Perla Macleod's stolen purse has been returned along with her diamond engagement ring that was inside. Fellow Big Baddeck resident Addyson Garland spotted the purse by the roadside during an April spring clean up with her family. After picking up the brown purse, Garland and her mother Katie Garland noticed a ring underneath it. The mystery of the purse's owner was solved when the contents showed a vehicle registration in the name of Macleod's husband, Craig.

After taking her rings off for work, Macleod had left them in her purse, only to have the purse stolen during a series of Christmas eve robberies in 2013. Much to the amazement of the owner, Addyson and her father, Sheldon Garland, hand-delivered their discovery that was found less than a kilometer away from its home. Macleod, who had never replaced her wedding rings, was surprised and happy to have such a special piece of jewelry back. She is grateful that someone from the area found it and took the time to return it. While the engagement ring has been reunited with its owner, the wedding band is still at large.
