The Cape Breton Highlanders professional basketball team announced that former players Bruce Massey and Charles Strowbridge will return to the lineup for the upcoming playoffs.
Strowbridge is set to arrive soon and is expected to compete in the first playoff game with the Halifax Hurricanes on Thursday, April 4. Massey is arriving shortly thereafter and is expected to play in the second game in Halifax on Sunday, April 7. Both players are expected in the lineup for the home game on Monday, April 8 at 7PM at Centre 200.
Massey left the Highlanders in February to play in Ukraine. At the time, Massey was a leading candidate for NBLC league MVP, averaging 24 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals in 40 minutes per game. He was in the NBLC top 5 for points, assists, steals, free throws, and minutes per game, and 12th for rebounding.
Strowbridge briefly played the point guard position for the Highlanders in February, averaging 9 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. He returned to the NBA G League to play for the Memphis Hustle, NBA affiliate to the Memphis Grizzlies.
The teams that Massey and Strowbridge played on were eliminated in the playoffs, freeing them up to return to the Highlanders. Their return will shore up the roster back to 12.
Playoff tickets for the public can be purchased starting on Thursday, April 5 from the Centre 200 Box Office.
