The Savoy Theatre, in association with The Highland Arts Theatre, is proud to announce an AUDITION CALL for the upcoming new musical, MATILDA. 

The popular show is set to run at the Savoy Theatre in October of 2019. Savoy Theatre Manager Pam Leader and Highland Arts Theatre Manager/ Show Director, Wesley Colford, say they’re excited to hear from any and all talent. “This is a high-energy musical that’s sure to be a ton of fun to put together. We hope lots of people, of all ages, will come out to get involved,” said Pam Leader.

Auditions are open to those aged 10 and up. Hopeful applicants will be asked to perform one song of their choice (not a song from Matilda, just any song). Songs shouldn’t be any more than 1.5 minutes (edit where necessary) and if possible, please provide sheet music. There will be a piano accompanist available for everyone.

“Choose a song that let’s you tell a story. We want you to take on a character, identify what it is you want to convey in the song and then fight to achieve that objective,” said Director Wesley Colford.

Auditions will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 11am-5pm at the Highland Arts Theatre, 40 Bentinck Street, Sydney. To book yours, please email [email protected].

Call backs will be held on Wednesday June 5, 2019 from 6pm - 9pm at the Savoy Theatre, 116 Commercial St., Glace Bay. A detailed rehearsal schedule will follow but successful applicants should prepare to be available August 19-23 and will resume rehearsals in September (after Labour Day) through to opening October 4th, 2019.
