The Saltscapes East Coast Expo happened last weekend in Halifax, and an eclectic group of Cape Breton businesses came down to show off our awesome stuff and lure hapless tourists to our little corner of the universe. Billed as the ultimate 'buy local' event in Atlantic Canada, the expo has over 500 exhibitors from all of Atlantic Canada, but I only took pictures of the Cape Breton ones, because I'm biased and we're the best.
Here are some pictures of Capers spreading the word about how great we all are.
Here we have Breton Brewing, giving free samples of delicious beer. The quality of their beer is only matched by the quality of their graphic designs. I bought a shirt!
Duane and Wade from Cape Breton Fudge Company. The secret to taking a good picture of Duane is to not tell so he doesn't get the chance to close his eyes. Silly Duane.
Stacy and Lisa from DCBA. I've never seen them apart. They're like Cape Breton's own Jay and Silent Bob.
Jenna from Louisbourg Seafoods and Chef Arty from Governor's Pub making crab sliders for all the mainlanders who have no idea how great seafood can be.
Glen Breton Whiskey from Glenora Distillery. This guys happy because he's selling whiskey.
The Centre of Craft and Design looking strangely mischievous.
Linda from The Beggar's Banquent was doing her best to offend everyone walking by. She's really good at it.
Patrick from Retakes and Revelries Amusement Photography. Not pictured: the kilt Patrick was rocking like a boss.
I think Cape Breton was the only section with a dance floor, because that's how we roll.
The Fortress Rum was giving out free samples all weekend. That guy was popular.
The Fortress also had a tent on display, for those who had one too many free samples.
Here's Boating Cape Breton, because we're an island, and boats are important.
And here's a dog in a hat. Good Dog!
Oh No! I didn't take a picture of Jill's Chocolates! Ok, just give me a second.
I bet you didn't expect Lance Bass. That makes two of us!
So there you have it. Beer, fudge, crab, whiskey, boats, crafts, dancing, chocolate, kilts and a fortress. Everything you need for a great Saturday night. Cape Breton representing.
