This is absolutely great news. Much needed medical equipment at a time that is already overwhelmingly challenging for families. With that said, I think it's also very important to point out that there are inefficiencies in our medical equipment procurement policies in Nova Scotia. And they should be audited to find out how extensively so. The most specific example is an $800,000 medical nuclear camera that is sitting in a crate at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital - unless that status had quietly changed. While the community rallied to raise money for the linear accelerator - including the mayor even shaving his head for the effort - we had $800,000 tied up in equipment that wasn't being used. Wouldn't it *always* be smarter to invest the monies into devices we actually need? The wait time just for a basic ultrasound at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital is currently about *10 months*. How many ultrasound devices could be acquired for $800,000? I reached out to several political folks. A few provided cursory responses and then never followed up. But here is the full story: https://capebreton.lokol.me/cape-bretons-s800000-nuclear-camera---its-in-a-box-2
