While the community rallied to raise money for the linear accelerator - including the mayor even shaving his head for the effort - we had $800,000 tied up in equipment that wasn't being used. Wouldn't it *always* be smarter to invest the monies into devices we actually need? The wait time just for a basic ultrasound at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital is currently about *10 months*. How many ultrasound devices could be acquired for $800,000? I reached out to several political folks. A few provided cursory responses and then never followed up.
