Aimee Gordon of Sydney Mines, Cape Breton, is competing in speed skating in the 2017 Special Olympics World Games in Austria. Not only is she competing, Aimee just won GOLD in the 500m race.
Her coach Cyril MacDonald recorded a VIDEO of her gold medal finish.
Aimee's final race is tomorrow in the 333m where she's in contention for another medal.
Regional representatives for the Special Olympics in Nova Scotia say that Aimee is the first Cape Breton athlete to compete in the Special Olympics at the world level.
Congratulations to Aimee and coach MacDonald on their success and for bringing the GOLD home to Cape Breton.
