Cape Breton Paralympic Athlete Determined to Go On

From CBC Nova Scotia:

A Nova Scotia Paralympic athlete isn't letting budget cuts to the Rio event throw her off course.

"We're here to compete, and this is not going to stop us," said Pamela LeJean, who is making her Paralympic Games debut in track and field throwing events next month.

Last week organizers announced deep cuts to the games' budget, which are expected to affect every team, and all visitors to the games.

LeJean grew up an active child in Sydney, N.S., playing basketball, rugby and swimming.

A spinal cord injury at the age of 17 changed her life forever, but didn't dampen her competitive spirit.
