Cargo Ship Takes Shelter In The Mira Bay

Due to weather conditions, a cargo ship is currently taking shelter from the rough seas in the Mira Bay. Josephine Kennedy shared the photos to social media.

As an opponent of the plans for the Donkin mine operation to transport coal through the fishing grounds to Sydney by barge as well as having concerns with plans for seismic testing, she notes that this provides an example of what could happen with coal barges during adverse weather conditions.

According to the US company Kameron Coal the mine has a life-expectancy of 30 years. So 30 years of coal dust drifting in Morien and Mira Bay and the Mira River. The fishing industry has 300 years of history and it has kept this island going.
