Cape Breton Regional Police advise motorists of changes to downtown Sydney traffic flow the weekend of August 11th and 12th during the Hot August Nights Classic Car Show, when hundreds of vehicles will be parked on George Street for display.

Effective 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM on Friday, August 11^th and Saturday, August 12^th, George Street will be closed to vehicle traffic with barricades at Prince and Townsend Streets. Traffic Safety officers will be present to control traffic flow and an emergency vehicle lane will be in place for Police, Fire, and EHS access.

Please use alternate routes and expect traffic delays in this area. Please also pay attention to signage and traffic control personnel, and stay alert for extra pedestrian traffic expected on and around George Street.

To alleviate traffic congestion in the area, motorists are encouraged to use parking at Open Hearth Park where they can access a transit bus to George Street. Transit Cape Breton will pick-up and drop off at the corner of Wabana Court & Ferry Street between 5:00 PM and 10:30 PM.
