Did you know the Cape Breton Regional Municipality has developed a mobile app to help residents with waste disposal?

It's not fancy, but it is very useful and drop-dead easy to use.

Simply go to your online app store and search for CBRM Waste. The app will pop up quickly and it's free to download. It's less than 70 MB in size, so won't take up much room on your device.

When you first open it on your favourite mobile device, it will ask you to input your address. You only need to do this once, and you will never have to wonder about recycling week again. 

Each time you open the app, your garbage day is scheduled as an event specific to your address, and the types of waste to be picked are clearly indicated. Simple and effective!

As well, the app can help you sort waste (i.e. which waste in which colour bag), and has links to local electronics, enviro-depots, and paint recycling locations.

Since most people have their mobile phones with them wherever they go, this information is always at hand vs. searching online or rooting around in the kitchen drawer for the brochure you got a few months back.
