Did a little known Hopi prophecy come true in 2015?

Well to answer this question, you'll have to understand that I personally fall between casual musician/environmental activist so although I'm always looking for inspirational subject matter, I'm neither an expert nor an academic.  Despite this, as an activist, there's perhaps no greater time to be alive with all that is going on in the world.  The gap between the rich and the poor has grown unlike any other period and rural regions in Canada are starting to see the fallout of this scenario in play.  There are many opportunities that present themselves during these periods if people are able to come together and capitalize on them.  Before explaining the interpreted meaning of the Hopi prophecy revealed by Frank Waters, it is perhaps important to understand what rather large event this prophecy was foretelling.

In September of 2015, the "Our Children's Trust" lawsuit rolled out into courts in New York with Dr. James Hansen (ex-NASA Climate Scientist) delivering Exhibit A.  "OCT" is a first-time ever global lawsuit which was put in place with Vatican backing.  I'm aware of this because as a graphic designer, the Global Catholic Climate Movement was sent with everything they needed to carry out their important work in Assisi, Italy during the summer of 2015.  Volunteering with the Global Catholic Climate Movement that summer led to a donation of around 50 hours of work so that they'd have the media they needed for their first global meeting - T-shirts, banners, 1/4 page flyers, social media posts were designed and accumulated.

So let's assume that this great event is a first-ever global litigation that indigenous people around the globe have been expecting. So let's take a look at the diagram that Frank Waters described in his book in the 1960s:

"Near Oraibi, Arizona, there is a petroglyph known as Prophecy Rock which symbolizes many Hopi prophecies. Its interpretation is:
The large human figure on the left is the Great Spirit. The bow in his left hand represents his instructions to the Hopi to lay down their weapons. The vertical line to the right of the Great Spirit is a time scale in thousands of years. The point at which the great Spirit touches the line is the time of his return.
The "life path" established by the Great Spirit divides into the lower, narrow path of continuous Life in harmony with nature and the wide upper road of white man's scientific achievements. The bar between the paths, above the cross, is the coming of white men; the Cross is that of Christianity. The circle below the cross represents the continuous Path of Life.

The four small human figures on the upper road represent, on one level, the past three worlds and the present; on another level, the figures indicate that some of the Hopi will travel the white man's path, having been seduced by its glamour.
The two circles on the lower Path of Life are the "great shaking of the earth" (World Wars One and Two). The swastika in the sun and the Celtic cross represent the two helpers of Pahana, the True White Brother.
The short line that returns to the straight Path of Life is the last chance for people to turn back to nature before the upper road disintegrates and dissipates. The small circle above the Path of Life, after the last chance, is the Great Purification, after which corn will grow in abundance again when the Great Spirit returns. And the Path of Life continues forever...

The Hopi shield in the lower right corner symbolizes the Earth and the Four-Corners area where the Hopi have been reserved. The arms of the cross also represent the four directions in which they migrated according to the instructions of the Great Spirit.

The dots represent the four colors of Hopi corn, and the four racial colors of humanity."

So Frank Waters died in 1995 not having witnessed the first of the papacy that would include Pope Benedict in 2005. Benedict had joined Hitler youth as a 14-year old and eventually served in the German military (membership was required by law for all 14-year old German boys after March 1939 *Wikipedia.org).  In 2013, when Pope Francis was elected to the papacy (keep in mind he is the first ever Jesuit Pope during the second time a Pope has ever stepped aside since 1415 and the first in the modern era to do so), the prophecy appears to have come full circle as the symbolism attached to the Jesuit Order is the sun.  So if the swastika in the sun were one of two great helpers, who would be the Celtic connection and second all-powerful helper?

That connection appears to be Fr. Sean McDonagh, Irish author, eco-theologian.  The Association of Catholic Priests was co-founded by Fr. McDonagh as a voluntary association of Roman Catholic clergy in Ireland.  Established in 2010 by Fr. McDonagh and Fr. Flannery, the ACP is a reform group seeking the ordination of women and the banning of the celibacy requirement, among other things.  Now to bring the group together for a rather large event, Fr. Sean McDonagh helped draft the encyclical Laudato si' (On Care For Our Common Home) in 2015 with Pope Francis (despite Fr. Sean being the co-founder of an organization whose had members censured by the Roman Curia).  By September of 2015, the Vatican backed the litigation attached to climate change; the first global litigation ever formed on the planet.  So the Hopi had actually documented this final shaking of the earth, as they would call it.  Here is a copy of an archived web-page of a response to Fr. McDonagh's article in 2013, well-before it was announced he would be advising on Laudato si'.

In the encyclical released in 2015, the current Pope is critical of consumerism and a development-without-any-consequence style of thought that has wrought industry as we know and support it.  The encyclical is a call for everyone to take "swift and unified global action".  When we look at the idea that the plastics industry alone is bringing our ocean to its knees with a formula as simple as addition, is it any wonder why this rampant consumerism has been left unchecked for so long?  Recent studies show that our oceans have entered the breaking point with shrimp being tested in the deepest depths and all showing traces of microplastics in their stomachs.  Dust, which used to be mineral based, is now showing traces of polymers when tested.  It is also stated that children are ingesting up to 1000 pieces of micro-plastic each year just based on regular consumer patterns.

Is this a large enough issue for people to rally around?  Of course, that's one thing you can count on - there will always be a response.  The current movement is called "Extinction Rebellion" (abbreviated as XR) and it is a global, academic-based socio-political movement with some lofty goals: net-zero by 2025, non-violent direct action being the vehicle to prevent ecological collapse by end of this century.  You may have noticed 4 people getting arrested in Halifax the week of April 15 - these people were XR protestors.

It's very difficult to rally around climate change based on very complex scientific models.  That being said, the destruction of the oceans based on consumerism is certainly something all the regular Joes and Josephines can relate to.  What is the solution?  It's certainly not doing the exact same thing and expecting a different result.  All levels of government will have to be activated in a war-cabinet style approach to solving the issue.  Likely, a region could be given the go-ahead to start its own producer-based responses to the aggressors in all this, which is industry who hasn't developed more consumer-friendly responses.

With Europe banning single-use plastic in 2018 and Canada activating Bill M151, it appears certain levels of government are starting to wake up and start to at least have a sane dialogue around this subject matter.  Is it too late for that future generation who deserves its voice to be heard in all this mess and clutter?

We have all become the plastic in the belly of the whale in this tragedy.  The hope on the horizon lies within the "Pahana" group referred to in the Hopi prophecy - roughly 100,000 people who seemingly are first to rise to the challenge of sorting this mess out and creating the model to be followed.

You'd have to believe in both miracles and mysticism at this stage for this to come alive.
