Fired Creations- The Pottery Painting Café.
The Sydney Waterfront District is very fortunate to be the stage for this unique and creative business adventure. Alisha Barron is the brainchild of Fired Creations – The Pottery Painting Café. Located in our downtown, it fills a gap in the creative realm by giving locals and visitors an opportunity to paint their own pottery. It is then fired and neatly wrapped for pickup. Think birthday parties, weddings, staff parties, halloween, Christmas, Easter, first dates, fourth dates, gifts, souvenirs and more. It is also a fine café so it creates a new social space in the downtown, encouraging people to spend time and feel at home in the district by sipping some delicious tea and coffee and nibbling on tasty treats.
Alisha Barron is from Ingonish, a stunning town on the North East coast of Cape Breton. It is known for its beaches and magnificent views of the highlands along the Cabot Trail. There is no shortage of inspiration and imagination in her head, and working with her to transform the former A.C.A.P space on the corner of Townsend and George has truly been a gift. We kept things simple and only made very strategic design choices to work with the original building to transform it into a cozy and inspiring place to be. We used clay and pottery as a point of inspiration and took off from there. The biggest challenge was how large and expansiveness the space is, but by using darker warmer colours we were able to make it feel more close and intimate.
The Pottery Painting Café is now open, and there is much more to come.
