This is my buddy Devon , he comes to all our son's soccer games, and makes fun of my wife with no more than a smile and a simple laugh. Due to cerebral palsy, he is in his wheelchair for life and he, his 10 year old brother, and his mom (Nichole MacNeil) aren't letting it keep them down (You may have seen them on their bikes in the Action Week parade).
Devon has cerebral palsy, a feeding tube, a seizure disorder, is developmentally delayed, has had multiple surgeries and ongoing medical issues. BUT HE IS MUCH MORE THAN HIS LIST OF MEDICAL AILMENTS.
They tried locking themselves in the house and not going out and IT WAS NO FUN. About 2 years ago Nicole decided it was time to get out with the family. They started going to watch Devon's brother play soccer in the pier, visiting Tim Hortons, going to the park for concerts, and took up bike riding thanks to a special tandem bike supplied by the Wish Foundation. Life was better except for all the lifting needed to get Devon in and out of their present non-accessible van which cannot be adapted due to it's age.
They are presently trying to raise money for a new van to retrofit with a lift so Devon's mom does not have to lift him in and out of his chair into the vehicle (he is almost 7 years old and not getting any lighter).
If at all possible, please make a donation at http://www.gofundme.com/2zxv5bhk . If not, please share.
Make sure you say "Hi!" if you see Devon out & about. His family works so hard to get him there.
