Thompson Sr/Jr High School in North Sydney is slated for demolition, the buildings will be gone but never the fond memories of generations of students and teachers. In this age of reuse, recycle, repurpose, why will it be pulverized before any attempts at salvage were proposed? Beautiful hardwood flooring is still intact in the gymnasium, classrooms and hallways of the older section. Light fixtures, sinks, toilets, cabinets, doors and windows all headed for our landfill. When I see the great transformation of the former 'Holy Angels' I can't help but wonder if some of the salvaged materials from THS might have been of use with that renovation.
