Highlanders Basketball Announce Changes

For Immediate Release | Sydney, NS, Canada | January 22, 2017
The Cape Breton Highlanders professional basketball franchise has announced two changes to the squad.
Dean Murray has been relieved of his head coaching duties, effective immediately.  Dean Murray came to the NBL and the Highlanders with extensive coaching experience and helped build the inaugural team in Cape Breton.
President and GM, Tyrone Levingston, said, "At this time, we have decided to chart a new direction on the court. We are thankful to Dean for the guidance and expertise he has provided in helping us build a strong roster and foundation for professional basketball here in Cape Breton. We certainly wish him well in his next endeavor."
The Highlanders also announced that stand-out point guard, Hank Thorns, suffered a small fracture in his knee cap, after falling on the court in the win against the Moncton Miracles on Jan 15.  Thorns sat out the last two games and will likely be out for at least a few weeks.
The Highlanders next game is in PEI on January 26 and can be watched live on YouTube.
The Cape Breton Highlanders Franchise is one of 10 professional basketball teams in the National Basketball League of Canada. The Highlanders’ ownership group is comprised of successful business and community leaders in Cape Breton and led by President and General Manager Tyrone Levingston.
