Highlanders Basketball Team Announces Three Roster Changes

The Cape Breton Highlanders professional basketball team has announced three changes to the team roster.

Hank Thorns has reinjured his kneecap and has been placed on Injured Reserve (IR) for the remainder of the season.

Chadrack Lufille has been placed on Injured-Reserve (IR). Lufille is returning home for the birth of his child and will not be returning this season.

Sefton Barrett, a 6'5 forward from Brampton, ON will be joining the team for the next game in Halifax. Barret is a 33-year old veteran who has played professionally in the NBL, Finland, and other leagues. He played NCAA Division I at Central Michigan University. Barrett is the injured-reserve designate to replace Hank Thorns.

President and General Manager, Tyrone Levingston, added, "We appreciate the contributions that Hank and Chadrack made to our team in our inaugural season, and wish them well. We look forward to the energy that Sefton will add to our roster and he is eager to join our team."

The NBL trade deadline was in mid March. The only roster changes that are allowed after the trade deadline are for replacing injured players. The Highlanders have 7 games remaining in the regular season, which concludes on April 30. The team is in a 3-way battle with The Moncton Miracles and The PE Island Storm for the 3rd and 4th playoff spots in the Atlantic Division.

The Cape Breton Highlanders Franchise is one of 10 professional basketball teams in the National Basketball League of Canada. The Highlanders’ ownership group is comprised of successful business and community leaders in Cape Breton and led by President and General Manager Tyrone Levingston.  Find out more at HighlandersBasketball.ca
