The Cape Breton Highlanders professional basketball team announced that they have traded the rights to power forward Keith Thomas to the PE Island Storm in return for future considerations. Thomas returned to his home state of New York in mid-January to attend to personal matters.  It is uncertain if or when the Island Storm will activate Thomas.

President and GM, Tyrone Levingston, said, "We are thankful to Keith for the strong contribution he made to our team early in the season. With with the signing of new players to our roster and others coming back from injury, we had to make some tough decisions with our 12-man roster. I'm confident that Keith will have a successful professional career and I hope that we will see him back in the NBL soon."
