The Cape Breton Highlanders were back in action January 1st at Centre 200 against the Island Storm. The Highlanders defeated the Storm, 117-113 to claim their first win of the season and franchise.
Highlanders led the game 26-20 after the first quarter and maintained the lead at halftime 53-50. In a nail-biting fourth quarter that came down to the buzzer, the Highlanders won the victory over the Island Storm 117-113.
Booker Woodfox led the Highlanders with 27 points. Hank Thorns scored 23 points with 12 assists and 7 rebounds. Chadrack Lufile scored 20 points with 3 assists, and Shaquille Keith had 18 points.
Nick Okorie led the Island Storm with 25 points and 5 assists. Jahil Carson scored 20 points and 3 assists. Terry Thomas scored 20 points and had 11 rebounds.
The Cape Breton Highlanders face the Halifax Hurricanes Thursday, January 5th , at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.
