Game Highlights

Quarter 1: Highlanders 16, Edge 25

The Highlanders came into Sunday’s game with a short bench. Deshaunt Walker, Chris Johnson, and Aaron Redpath were unable to play. Cape Breton struggled to find their offense early as the Edge defense held them to just 17% shooting on their first 12 attempts. As the quarter went on, the Highlanders improved their efficiency from the field, but found themselves down by 9 points to end the quarter.

Quarter 2: Highlanders 43, Edge 50

The second quarter for the Highlanders was better than the first. They shot the ball well, but the Edge were still able to produce offensively. For the majority of the quarter both teams exchanged baskets, but fatigue appeared to set in for the Highlanders. The Edge would end the first half up 7 points.

Quarter 3: Highlanders 58, Edge 71

The second half started with St’ John’s coming out flying, going on a 15-4 run. The Edge defense forced the Cape Breton offense to take tough shots. The Highlanders weren’t able to find a groove and struggled to produce good offense. St. John’s held Cape Breton to just 15 points in the quarter and began to run away with the game.

Quarter 4: Highlanders 84, Edge 105

The final quarter saw the Edge offense easily find ways to score and maintain a comfortable lead. The Highlanders shooting would improve in the final quarter, but their 32.5% shooting on the game was not good enough to come out with a win on the road. The Highlanders look to seek revenge tomorrow night in their rematch versus the Edge in St. John’s.
