Point guard Charles “Jay-R” Strowbridge joined the Cape Breton Highlanders professional basketball team during their recent road trip in Ontario. Fresh off a flight from his home state of Alabama, Strowbridge was called on to contribute to the team immediately. In his second game he hit for 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Strowbridge is the first pure point guard on the Highlander roster this season. At 5’11” and 185lb, Strowbridge uses his quickness to his advantage. At 30 years of age, he also brings significant professional experience, having played in the NBA G League and several pro leagues in Europe.
Strowbridge played NCAA Division I basketball at the University of Oregon and the University of Nebraska.
To make room on the 12-man roster, Justin Taylor was released.
The next Highlanders game is Thursday, February 14 in Moncton versus the Magic.
