The 'Battle of Nova Scotia' did not disappoint last night as the Cape Breton Highlanders won their first victory over the Halifax Hurricanes. The Highlanders grabbed the win at the Scotiabank Centre 91 - 88, in a tight, nail-biting battle with their provincial rivals.
Cape Breton showed determination and intensity from the opening tip off. Strong shooting and rebounding on both ends of the court allowed the Highlanders to keep control of the game. The Hurricanes fought back hard in the fourth quarter to tie up the score with less than 1 minute left in a tightly contested game. However, the Highlanders took control and grabbed a 3 point victory.
Chad Frazier led the Highlanders with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Shaquille Keith landed 21 points, while Anthony Walker scored 19 points to go with his 9 rebounds. Charles Mann Jr knocked out 14 points while Mark Rostampour picked up 14 rebounds.
Tyrone Watson, Antoine Mason, Ta'Quan Zimmerman led the Hurricanes with 15 points each.
The Highlanders continue their road show on Friday, February 17 at the WFCU Centre against the Windsor Express.
